Activities and Responsibilities of the Post
Principle Purpose of the role
Applications are invited for the above post in the Records Management and Data Quality Department, based at Suffolk Police Headquarters, Martlesham Heath.
The Data quality Team is a small highly trained team working within the Records Management Department, where teamwork, communication and attention to detail is critical.
The successful applicant will support in the management and improvement of Data Quality on all force systems, supporting operational needs and making sure information held on systems are accurate, up to date and correctly linked.
A curriculum vitae (CV) is acceptable in the first instance but must indicate how the below essential criteria is met.
Main Activities of the Role
- To manage ‘match and merge’ lists for people and locations within Athena
- To work with Athena business areas to identify Data Quality issues and their solutions through regular dip sampling
- To inform reporting assessing the validity, extent, risk and solutions to Data Quality issues as required by the Athena Data Quality and Compliance Group or Athena managers
- To assist in regular and ad-hoc monitoring of Data Quality for all Athena modules and new system releases
- To liaise closely with other departments to ensure Athena Data Quality meets the needs of department policy and procedures and legislative requirements
- To raise areas of significant risk arising from Data Quality standards to the relevant Athena manager
- To be aware of the minimum standards laid out in the Athena Information Management Code of Connection (Data Quality Plan) and take corrective action to fix Athena data that falls short of the standards
- Any other duties commensurate with the role and grade as may reasonably be required by line management
Person Specification
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience of work in a Data Quality, quality assurance or audit environment
- Good communication skills, including the ability to deliver concise reports to Athena Supervisors
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite
- Good keyboard skills
- Good eye for detail and track record of high levels of accuracy
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards e.g. Data Protection Act Code, management of police information
Hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Special conditions / Points to note

- Whilst the role is normally based at the aforementioned location, you may be required to work at other establishments across both Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies as may be reasonably required. Police Staff Conditions of Service will be adhered to in such instances
