The Trust is recruiting for a number of Attendance and Welfare Officers to work with schools in and around the Bradford area. We have 9 schools who will be served by the Attendance and Welfare team, and each AWO will work across a cluster of 3. These roles work with families, external agencies and colleagues to respond to, support, and implement student and family engagement strategies as part of the early help offer. These interventions will help the young people overcome the barriers they face in achieving positive attendance patterns at school.  The successful applicants will have experience of working with young people in a variety of settings and with vulnerable families / young people who experience challenging circumstances. To secure one of these roles you  will need to understand the barriers to learning and attending school which are faced by young people and how they can be overcome. As this role includes home visits, a full driving license and access to a vehicle for business use is also required.

The core purpose of this role will be to support whole school attendance through:

  • Office-based work, working with families and with outside agencies.
  • Raising the attendance of targeted families within your three allocated schools
  • Working preventatively to provide early intervention signposting support and guidance.
  • Working with the Safeguarding Team to respond to and assist in implementing student and family engagement strategies as part of the schools’ Early Help offer
  • Persuade, empower and motivate families to engage and overcome barriers to positive attendance patterns
  • Liaise with relevant agencies to improve swift access to statutory and voluntary services.

The Schools you will be potentially working with are:
