This is an exciting opportunity to join the Audit Investigations team, within Internal Audit. Working in an audit environment, assignments will be more diverse, complex and high profile in nature arising from a variety of sources such as Whistleblowing and requests from EXCO, the Board and other senior stakeholders. This is a challenging, fast moving, varied but rewarding role, requiring fast learning, quick thinking and the ability to switch priorities at short notice and shift between subjects and assignments without missing a beat.
The team plays an important role in responding to concerns of significant potential or actual wrongdoing, misconduct, or behaviours towards others. You will be expected to work from London, Swindon, or Bournemouth twice per week.

What you’ll be doing
- Through investigations and ad-hoc audit activity, via document reviews, desk-based analysis, investigative interviews and by applying your natural curiosity and tenacity you will work with colleagues, but sometimes alone, to undertake high quality and insightful investigations and reviews.
- Gathering and reviewing information and evidence from a variety of sources you will form robust conclusions and evidence-based opinions.
- You will present your findings in a variety of ways including through insightful reports, presentations and face to face meetings, demonstrating your influencing skills and making value add recommendations where appropriate.
- Maintaining the highest standards ensuring that investigations and reviews are compliant with rigorous regulatory, legal and professional standards and our Internal Methodology, you will continuously develop processes and approach in line with a changing legal/regulatory landscape and industry standards.
- You will liaise with appropriate internal teams including Legal, Compliance, People & Culture and Financial Crime.
- You will support the Audit Senior Investigation Manager for example, contributing to updates and reports to Audit Committee, other Boards and senior stakeholders, assisting with planning and reviewing team MI.
About you
As a minimum requirement, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience in audit, investigation, compliance or a similar discipline, leading reviews, delivering insightful findings and writing and presenting high quality reports and papers for senior stakeholders and committees.
- Experience of conducting investigations or audit reviews, demonstrating good judgement and integrity in determining the findings, offering an evidence based opinion and making appropriate recommendations.
- Experience, with Financial Services, Whistleblowing, Compliance, Legal or Security reviews and/or investigations.
- Strong communication skills. You will need to demonstrate excellent investigative interviewing skills and experience of communicating complex, sometimes challenging, messages to a wide range of stakeholders through reports and verbally through presentations, attendance at committees and meetings and interpersonally in small groups or one to one.
- The ability to learn new information fast, getting to grips with unfamiliar subjects quickly and knowing when to seek further guidance.
- Personal drive and self-initiative to be able to deliver a relatively unpredictable variety and volume of work to a high standard often to tight deadlines.
- High levels of integrity, ensuring confidentiality and demonstrating neutrality and discretion at all times so that concerns are fully investigated, and appropriate decision-making governance is applied.
