An 'Outstanding' special school in Wakefield is seeking an experienced Autism Specialist to join their growing team of support staff. The school caters for children and young people aged 2 to 19 with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Complex Medical Conditions. They are in need of an Autism Specialist to join them after the February half term on a full-time basis until the end of the academic year.
As an Autism Specialist, your roles and responsibilities will be:
- To provide 1:1 support to the pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- To support with behaviour management when required.
- To assist the class teacher in running exciting lessons and stimulating activities to aid the pupils' sensory skills.
- To support the children in accordance to their care plan and ensure their needs and requirements are met.
To be an Autism Specialist at this school, it is required that you have experience supporting children or adults with autism to demonstrate your knowledge of how to support vulnerable young people.
Also, due to the location of the school, holding a driving license would be desired as it can be difficult to use public transport to travel to this school.
