Hays Education are recruiting an Autism Experienced Teacher to join the Y3/4 team, where you will be responsible for a class of 5 pupils with complex needs in this aspirational, inclusive and outward-looking special school in Huddersfield for children aged 5-19 with complex autism. There are currently 140 pupils on roll. This role is initially offered on a temporary basis but has the potential to become a permanent job.
The pupils in the class are non-verbal and communicate using core boards, visuals and some Makaton. You will have the support of 2 ETAs and 1 HLTA in your class, as well as 2 other experienced teachers in your year group providing the benefit of shared planning and lots of support. You will also have access to full therapy teams on-site, including occupational health, speech and language, music, art and sensory.
The school is rated as 'Good' by Ofsted, holds Advanced Autism Accreditation and is the Autism Education Trust licensed training provider for Kirklees schools and Post 16. This recognises the highest standards of autism expertise and practice and underpins the school's important role as a schools training hub.

The ideal candidate will have:
- QTS or equivalent qualification
- Experience of teaching children with autism and complex needs, preferably in a SEND setting
- Knowledge of core boards, visuals, Makaton and other communication methods
- Ability to differentiate the curriculum and provide personalised learning for each pupil
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and external professionals
- Commitment to the school\'s vision and values
