ScotRail have 4 maintenance depots throughout Scotland responsible for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of more than 600 vehicles. Vehicle types are varied and include the most modern types of Traction and Rolling stock within the UK. All vehicles are maintained to the highest quality and engineering standards resulting in a challenging working environment.

As a member of the Engineering Team you will be responsible for the delivery of safe, reliable, well-presented trains. The successful applicant will carry out VMI maintenance and servicing tasks on rail vehicles, labouring and cleaning tasks as directed by the MAINTENANCE TEAM leader. Shunting duties involved.

A highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with a detailed eye focused on safety and quality.

Flexible outlook and be willing to learn new skills for the benefit of the team and the organisation. Must be able to adapt to new processes. Experience of working in an engineering environment. Be willing to learn shunting procedures.

NVQ level 2 or a proven track record in an engineering discipline is essential. Holding a clean motor vehicle driving licence would be advantageous, as is familiarity with Rail Vehicle Engineering and Rail Operations.

Hours of work: 35-hour week. 3 shift-pattern (day/back/night). Weekend working will also be involved. Reference Salary: £43,865 per annum. Training salary £39,491 per annum.

Selection process: Candidates short-listed will be invited to attend an assessment centre. Candidates successful after assessment will be invited to attend an interview. The final stage for successful candidates will be a medical examination and drugs/alcohol screening. Appointees must provide a basic disclosure Scotland check and at least 2 satisfactory references and complete a six-month probation period.

Training: Training initially involves a 2-day Induction training programme

Medical Fitness: Due to the nature of the post and rail industry safety requirements there are certain medical & fitness standards that you would require to meet.
