Service Care Solutions are working with The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust to recruit a Band 2 Telephonist to support the hospital communication team in the Shrewsbury area. The successful candidate will Liaise with all disciplines with and outside the hospital.
The contract duration is for 3 months with the likelihood of extension. This is a full-time placement with 37.5 hours available. Part-time applications will also be considered.
Hours: Full / Part time hours available, 24/7 operating hours
Location: Shrewsbury
Pay: £10.42 - £11.00 p/h
Bonus: £150 Sign-Up Bonus
Job Purpose - Band 2 Telephonist
The Switchboard Staff at the Hospital form an integral part of a dynamic, round-the-clock operation. As frontline personnel, they operate within a carefully crafted rota system, ensuring 24/7 coverage. Serving as the communication nerve centre of the hospital, Switchboard Staff members regularly interface with all hospital staff, playing a critical role in fostering effective connectivity.
Key Responsibilities

• Operate a Mitel plus back-up system independently.
• Manage the bleep system, issuing and reprogramming bleeps in the absence of the Supervisor.
• Assist with telephone inquiries from Trust members, the public, GP's, Hospitals, and other organizations.
• Be knowledgeable and competent in handling emergency calls/alarms.
• Monitor audible alarms, informing appropriate staff when activated.
• Attend mandatory training courses.
• Issue swipe cards for locums/medical students and record.
• Advise disciplines calling for key collection, though no responsibility is assumed.
• Work collaboratively to ensure the smooth running of the department.
• Night duty staff responsible for maintaining appropriate duties and actions for smooth telephone service operation.

Desirable

• Experience with Mitel System
• Experience with Stanley Blick Paging system
• Switchboard Experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology
