Job summary
An opportunity has arisen at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Library for a Band 4 Associate Librarian. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic and innovative library team in supporting healthcare staff access the latest evidence.
The post holder will support and develop library resources, collections, and services. Duties will include supporting and participating in the effective delivery of the Library Outreach services. The post holder will supervise and participate in the smooth-running of the libraries Enquiry Desk service and have supervisory responsibility for the Library Assistants and support them day-to-day. The post holder will have responsibility for producing the Enquiry Desk Rota and will ensure and support the day-to-day running of front-line services. They will also participate in the libraries Literature search and current awareness service as well as the libraries marketing and promotional activities.
The post holder will need excellent customer care, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to successfully manage and prioritise their own workload and make positive contributions to the library team and the development of the service. The post holder will work under the guidance of the Librarian and Site Library Manager but will also need to be able to work on their own and use initiative when working unsupervised. Previous experience of working in a busy library or administrative environment is essential.

- ECDL / equivalent IT qualification
- Library and Information Science qualification / NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a related area
