**The ideal candidate must be able to commit to Mondays to Fridays 4.15 to 5.15pm, throughout the academic year 2023/24 (approximately 30 weeks per year) hold an enhanced DBS, and be on the update service.**
A passionate, dedicated and committed freelance teacher of the LAMDA Speech and Drama Acting Syllabus, is required from September, to deliver the programme at a fantastic school in Barnes, west London. The children range from Year 4 to Year 9 (ages 7 to 14) This school has a history of excellent LAMDA Speech and Drama exam results.
You must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the LAMDA Acting syllabus, as interview questions will be based on the course content for Entry Acting up to Grade 3 Acting Exams. The children work on their Solo Acting exams, in groups of 15 in after school sessions. As this is a freelance position, candidates must also hold an updated Safeguarding Training certificate (valid within the last two years) their own Public Liability Insurance and an up-to-date First Aid Certificate. The candidate must be willing to attend two paid INSET training sessions per year.
The rate of pay is £25-30 per hour for the after-school sessions depending on experience.
Speech and Drama teacher - Key requirements for this role:
A degree in performance from an accredited drama school
Hold an enhanced DBS and be on the update service
Sound knowledge and delivery of the LAMDA Acting Syllabus
Strong classroom management skills and experience with teaching groups of up to 20 students
An excellent rapport with young children and an ability engage and inspire
A passion for your subject
A sound knowledge of performance skills
Excellent communication skills
An ability to meet deadlines is crucial
To be able to follow, and carry out instructions from the company director
The recruitment process will comprise a zoom interview and a lesson observation lasting 45 minutes.
