We are currently seeking 1 x Band 5 and 1 x Band 6 highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapists to join our Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing occupational therapy services to adults experiencing acute mental health challenges. The focus will be on promoting recovery, enhancing daily functioning, and facilitating the transition to community living.
Key Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Assessments:
- Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments of individuals admitted to the Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit.
- Assess clients' functional abilities, occupational roles, and environmental factors influencing their mental health.
Individualized Treatment Planning:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, considering clients' strengths, needs, and recovery goals.
- Utilize evidence-based interventions to address occupational performance and enhance daily living skills.
Group Therapy:
- Facilitate therapeutic groups focusing on topics such as stress management, coping skills, and activities of daily living.
- Collaborate with other team members to design and implement group interventions that promote social engagement and skill development.
Crisis Intervention:
- Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms.
- Collaborate with the team to develop and implement crisis management plans.
Recovery Planning:
- Work closely with clients to establish recovery goals and objectives.
- Implement interventions that support clients in achieving their recovery milestones and transitioning to community living.
Family and Carer Involvement:
- Involve families and carers in the treatment process, providing education and support as needed.
- Collaborate with families to develop strategies that enhance the support system for clients.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals within the Inpatient Unit.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings, case conferences, and clinical reviews.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards related to documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current registration with the relevant occupational therapy regulatory body.
- Significant experience working in adult mental health, preferably within an acute inpatient setting.
- Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented practice and trauma-informed care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
