Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join the Haematology Research team. The team is based at the Center for Clinical Haematology of the University Hospitals Birmingham which hosts one of the largest adult stem cell transplant programme in the UK. The team is responsible delivering a mixture of academic and industry sponsored clinical trials covering all areas of Haematological diseases. The team has successfully delivered a variety of complex trials including trials involving ground breaking novel CAR- T therapies.

The Research Nurse will be responsible for leading on the delivery of clinical trials and research projects in collaboration with patients, the multidisciplinary team and project sponsors. The post holder will ensure patient experience the highest care standard and in line with the Trust vision, policies and procedures.

This role affords a broad, challenging and rewarding opportunity. It is an ideal environment for the post holder to maximize improving the quality of care patients receive through research. The post holder will facilitate an opportunity for patients to involve in research by being a link between research and patients experiencing new therapies.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register

Desirable

  • Health care management / leadership qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
  • Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
  • Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
  • Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
  • Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
  • Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
  • Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.

Desirable

  • Evidence of Research knowledge ( D)
  • Experience of clinical trials/ studies/ research coordination (D)
