In the Cancer Research team we have a vacancy, so if you are experienced in the oncology field, but have never thought of research as a specialty, OR are not sure if it's an area you wish to move to, then this could be your opportunity to test your skills and see if Research is a new area of practice for you, whilst maintaining your oncology clinical skills.
Our Oncology research portfolio has an exciting range of commercial, academic, observational as well as complex interventional studies. The disease areas we cover in the Cancer Research Team include Brain: Lung; Hep Bil; Breast; Urology; Sarcoma; Upper GI; Skin Lymphoma & others.
The post offers the opportunity to learn about the practicalities of approaching patients for participation in clinical research studies. Managing research participants' care pathways within the research programme in collaboration with their clinical team offers personal development and job satisfaction.
You will also have the opportunity to further develop your interpersonal, communication, organisation, time management, & documentation skills. Whilst being part of a friendly, welcoming supportive team.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
Essential Criteria for applying for this post:
- Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register
- Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff and students
- Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
- Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
- Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
- Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting change
- Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners
- Excellent Communication skills /written / verbal
- Ability to work under pressure across competing demands
- Ability to articulate the principles of safeguarding and mental capacity
- Ability to work flexible shift pattern, where required to include unsocial hours according to service need.
- Ability to perform in complex and challenging situations
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude

- Previous Research/Oncology experience is desirable, but not exclusionary
