Job summary

An exciting opportunity is now available for a System Testing & Quality Assurance Lead (Regional) this is a newly created role to assist in the implementation of a Laboratory Management System (LIMS) across the Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System (BSol ICS (Regional)).

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Extensive knowledge of functional and non-functional testing techniques (including exploratory testing) and test automation tools and frameworks,
  • Proven expertise in analysing requirements, identifying, assessing, and communicating risk,
  • Expertise in testing web-based applications, N365, regression testing,
  • Management role, including coaching and/ or mentoring of team members,
  • Demonstratable knowledge of testing styles and techniques,
  • Experience in communicating and influencing at a senior level,
  • Excellent communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills,
  • Capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences,
  • Excellent attention to detail,
  • Proven experience in the planning, execution, and reporting on testing progress,
  • The ability to work with minimum supervision to tight timescales,
  • Problem-solving skills,
  • Able to deal with difficult situations and manage expectations,
  • High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, flexibility in approach, and,
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing and challenging circumstances.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder will amongst other things:

  • Be reasonable in providing stakeholders with regular updates,
  • Provide day-to-day line management,
  • Prepare test documentation (for example, test management plans and end-of-testing reports etc),
  • Prepare testing collateral,
  • Liaise with the business and other stakeholders to gain a greater understanding of the requirements,
  • Manage the testing process and allocate tasks to junior members of the team,
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates as and when required etc.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent numeracy and literacy
  • NVQ3 in an IT-related subject as well as experience in undertaking a range of work procedures.
  • NVQ4 or equivalent relevant experience
  • ISTQB Foundation Level
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • ISTQB Agile tester Extension
  • ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in researching, collating, and processing information/data.
  • Evidence of a methodical approach and effective organisational skills
  • Experience working in a busy environment.
  • Experience in utilising mobile and desktop computer technologies

Desirable

  • Working in an NHS or healthcare environment
  • Cloud-based testing
  • Integration testing

Technical

  • Test Scripting
  • Test case running
  • Excellent IT Skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Computer literate with advanced keyboard skills requiring speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to remain focused whilst working from home and undertaking repetitive tasks.
  • Confident in dealing with people at all levels.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and IT systems through both self-study and on-the-job training.
  • Able to work on own initiative whilst being an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A detailed knowledge of the software development cycle and products
  • Extensive knowledge of web and internet technologies
  • Demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity.

  • Ability to travel across all Trust sites to carry out role when required.
