Job Summary: As a Band Saw Operative, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining band saw equipment to cut various materials such as metal, wood, or plastic. Your primary objective is to ensure accurate and precise cuts according to specifications while adhering to safety guidelines. The Band Saw Operative plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, contributing to the production of components used in various industries.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Machine Operation:
• Set up and operate band saw machines to cut materials based on provided specifications.
• Adjust machine settings, such as blade speed and tension, to achieve optimal cutting results.
• Monitor and control the cutting process to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
2. Material Preparation:
• Prepare materials for cutting by measuring, marking, and securing them on the band saw table.
• Verify material dimensions and align them with project requirements.
3. Quality Control:
• Inspect cut materials for accuracy, quality, and conformity to specifications.
• Make adjustments to the machine settings as needed to maintain quality standards.
4. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
• Perform routine maintenance on band saw equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues with the machinery, making adjustments or repairs as necessary.
5. Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
• Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow proper safety procedures during machine operation.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Proven experience as a Band Saw Operative or similar role.
• Knowledge of band saw equipment and its operation.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
