Bar & Café Manager - Summer School
£15 per hour
Closing Date: Friday 5th April 2024
The Marlborough College Catering Operation, during Summer School, offers customers a range of dining experiences, with sumptuous food options from within Norwood Hall and a relaxed but engaging new bar/cafe concept, often with live entertainment, in the purpose-built Marquee and garden deck. The new Bar/Café operation will offer a varied selection of quality food and drink products, alongside a full bar service, to meet the needs of our visitors. We will also need you to lead our theatre bar service at our regular Theatre venues across the campus – particularly on our busier entertainment nights.
Due to the size of the operation during this period, we require a Bar/Café Manager to join our existing managers to help lead the multi-skilled team in providing exceptional customer service to our guests. In this customer-focused environment, the quality of the front-line staff reflects directly on the overall customer experience, loyalty and our brand reputation. We are therefore looking for someone with proven experience and a track record in a supervisory/managerial role within the hospitality sector; someone with a dynamic approach who is friendly, hardworking and who has exceptional customer service skills. The individual we are looking for must be willing to go the extra mile to encourage our teams and to deliver excellent service. You may have worked in pubs, restaurants or event venues – transferring your experience and skillset to this busy operation should be fun and a way to increase your experience.
Our package will include meals, when on duty, and we may also be able to help with accommodation if required.
As a minimum, candidates will be available for all four weeks of the Summer School, between Sunday 7th July and Sunday 4th August - but we may also ask you to come early for some staff training and familiarisation (if you are available). Hours of work and shift patterns vary but successful applicants can expect to work 40 hours per week and possibly some overtime if required.
We are looking to interview very soon – so if this opportunity is of interest, please apply now using the attached application form, or if you have any questions, please talk to Mark Mortimer, our Catering Operations General Manager ().
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who likes exciting challenges and who has some relevant experience in the field of hospitality or an equivalent industry.
Marlborough College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the College is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children."
