Position Summary

The Global ESG&S BD & Marketing Specialist is responsible for all marketing and business development initiatives and activities related to the Global ESG&S group. The successful candidate will work closely with the Global ESG&S Head, currently a partner based in Houston, as well as senior members of the global BD & Marketing team and the Global Environmental Sustainability Manager.

This role would cover critical, quick-turnaround client requests globally, including input into ESG&S pitches, working closely with global BD, as well as Firm sustainability questionnaires, working with the Global Environmental Sustainability Manager.

Duties and Accountabilities

Business Development and Client Management  

  • Provide input into client requests and pitches with an ESG&Scomponent, as well as Firm sustainability questionnaires working closely with global BD and the Global Environmental Sustainability Manager.
  • Lead the Firm’s annual EcoVadis submission process (resulting in an important public ranking for the Firm). This involves significant data and document collection from across business functions (People, General Counsel, Technology, Procurement etc), responding to 100+ questions, working closely with the Senior Manager of Global Citizenship.
  • Support the Firm’s delivery of the post graduate law ESG, Business and the Law course taught at an academic institution in Australia and repurposing of materials for internal learning and development.  

Marketing and Profile Raising

  • Managing website content relating to the ESG&S Group.
  • Supporting global directories process and awards submission where ESG&S is a key area of focus.
  • Providing support and information as needed for global events, with an ESG&S focus.  

Team Infrastructure and Administration

  • Support the Global ESG&S Head, including coordinating monthly Core Team and bi-monthly Wider Team meetings.
  • Support the onboarding of incoming London ESG&S lateral partner.
  • Global ESG&S-administrative support, including production of the ESG&S Fortnightly Update and maintenance of BD collateral and the Firm Sustainability tracker.
  • Prepare reports and respond to requests by Firm management, including the Firm's Responsible Business Committee.    

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be a university graduate with experience working ideally in BD for a law or other professional services firm.
  • Strong English language skills – written and verbal – are essential. High-level written skills in both languages are critical.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a business development role for a global law firm or other professional services firm in a major international financial center.

  • The ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of professionalism and responsibility.
  • A team player attitude balanced with an ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • The ability to engage, build strong relationships and gain confidence of colleagues at all levels.
  • Sound analytical and decision-making skills and judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work within a multi-cultural environment with an acute awareness of cultural sensitivities.
  • Understanding of basic BD principles including experience working with a CRM, ideally InterAction.
  • The ability to follow strict processes and coordinate projects and teams across time-zones.
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.  

Location and Reporting

  • Based in London and reporting to BD & Marketing Director (London), and direct working relationship with the Firm’s Global Environmental Sustainability Manager (London).
  • Our standard office hours in London are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week.
