About the role

This is an exciting time to join our Revenues and Benefits team! We are a new local authority, created in April 2021.

We are on our journey of shaping what the Revenues and Benefits team looks like at West Northants Council, so there is plenty of opportunity to develop processes, and shape our offering so we can provide the best possible service to our residents and businesses.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Revenues and Benefits you will be the Council’s main specialist in Benefits and will lead, manage, and develop the Housing Benefits Assessment, Discretionary Housing Payments, and Appeals teams.

You will make recommendations on the strategic direction of the service supporting the redesign and transformation of the service.

About you

We are looking for a Benefits professional with excellent knowledge of legislation and best practice with regards to Housing Benefit.

You will have significant experience of leadership and managing and motivating a team at a senior level in a Benefits environment as well as effective performance management and proven experience of managing high performing teams.

You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to support and negotiate with stakeholders

Working as part of West Northants Council’s Finance Directorate, this is a brilliant opportunity to be part of a team leading in the transformation of the service.
