Bespoke Design Manager:
Responsible for the day to day running of the busy design department:- Review and sign-off Bespoke Designs and manufacturing drawings. Planning and monitoring of the design workload. Ensure designs are completed on time and on budget To improve the efficiency of the department and make suitable business cases for any budgets required to implement improvements Reporting of design projects as required to the project department Liaise with the manufacturing department to understand their production techniques and machine and equipment capacities and limitations to design for manufacture as well as to client specifications. Liaise with the sales and project management departments to plan project timescales and ensure that all necessary information is provided to accurately interpret and deliver the client s needs and specification. Ensure project changes are properly recorded and all involved parties are updated. To assist and mentor the Senior Design Engineer in the development of design standardization within a bespoke solution environment, ensuring consistent solutions for common design problems. Provide support and develop the management skills of the Senior Design Engineer to help him achieve the objectives set out in his Job Description. Monitoring ECN records and production feedback to ensure a continuous improvement culture is developed and shown to be effective. Develop parametric or simple 2D solutions for when Shop Drawings are required on standard products for the US market to reduce lead time. Develop and manage resource availability to respond to thermal modelling requests on bespoke projects. Lead innovation in bespoke product design to improve value engineering, product reliability and performance. To be fully conversant with AutoCAD & 3D Autodesk Inventor and how to get the best out of it. To ensure Autodesk Vault is utilized as the central repository for all models and drawings Technical liaison with clients and architects as required Liaison with other departments within the company, in particular the NPD team to share ideas and technologies between the bespoke and standard products ensuring that new product developments are reflected in the Bespoke Designs and vice versa. Based on previous Bespoke Designs, that have proved successful, develop design templates/parametric solutions for all common rooflight configurations to avoid re-inventing the wheel every time, using standard parts wherever possible. With the primary aim of improving design efficiencies and reducing the risk of untried and tested designs being released for manufacture.
The position is a current role with an immediate requirement. The role offers progression opportunities including international development. Some experience of working in a field with construction products and liaising with architects and project managers would be beneficial.
