Bid & Business Development Manager
International Markets
London or Bath / Hybrid
Salary Competitive

This is a newly created role for a Bid & Business Development Manager to join a leading engineering firm within their International Market team. Your key responsibilities will be bid management, team leadership and client focussed initiatives. This will include being the first point of contact for the Partner, building relationships with clients, managing the partner’s pipeline, line management and resource allocation.

Bid & Business Development Manager Key Accountabilities
• Manage the full bid process from end-to-end including informed Bid-No-Bid discussions, structured Bid Strategy and Bid Kick-Off meetings, timely Bid Reviews pre-submission, and Lessons Learnt feedback gathering post-submission.
• Ensuring all bids follow the Bid-No-Bid process before agreeing to support, providing input and research to support the decision. You will chair the Bid Review Board meeting for international market bids.
• Prioritising your time on strategic bid pursuits where possible, recognising the impact to the bid spend of having more senior resources working on lower value bids.
• Establish and develop relationships with equivalent seniority / role(s) for priority clients.
• Drive continuous improvement through analysing win / loss statistics, client feedback, and staying at the forefront of best practice in the industry.
• Establishing key input from stakeholders during the bid process such as Commercial / Legal, H&S, ESG, Regional counterparts, wider BD, Graphics and Marketing team.
• Working with the Bid Managers in the team to review and refine internal processes to ensure bid support is provided as efficiently and streamlined as possible, utilising the latest technology.
• Support the International Market lead with strategic development of international work winning including but not limited to, meeting attendance, reporting and input to new strategies.
• Work with the UK and regional BD teams to research new markets as directed by the International Market lead and aligned to strategy / targets defined for each financial year.
• Providing coaching and mentoring support to your direct reports and the junior members of the wider bid team where necessary.
• Recognising the skillset of the team and utilising that to the advantage of the business, applying the relevant resource to the appropriate bids based on requirement.
• Leading bid touchdown meetings to get early insight into potential opportunities and how to position the company.

Bid & Business Development Manager Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in Bid or BD-oriented roles at Senior or Managerial level (including Membership / Certification in APMP (Association for Proposal Management Professionals).
• Architectural Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry relevant experience desired.
• Strong copywriting and copy-editing skills.
• Line management and or mentoring / coaching experience.
• Excellent computer and IT skills including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign specifically), Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
