BITU (Bexley Integrated Transport Unit) organise and manage travel assistance for children / young people with special educational needs to go to / from school / college and vulnerable adults to day centres and respite.
Travel assistance can be in the form of Transport, PTAB (personal travel assistance budget) or Travel Training.
About the Role
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Transport Assistant to join our team to provide a high level of service in respect of travel assistance for SEN children/young people and vulnerable adults.
The team are also willing to consider an internal secondment opportunity.
You will have day-to-day interface with commissioning departments, service users, parents/carers, transport providers, schools and colleges, and care service providers for all operational passenger travel assistance queries.
You will assist in the day-to-day monitoring of the transport providers. You will help to plan and review the operational arrangements of travel assistance for SEN children and vulnerable adults.

Candidate Profile
Requirements for this post include:
- English and Mathematics to GCSE A-C level or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages – Word, Outlook, Excel.
- Excellent administration and office skills. Including data entry, retrieval and presentation.
- High level of numeric and literacy skills
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision and to strict deadlines.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and information.
- Experience of maintaining complex databases.
- Experience of dealing with enquiries from the public and senior officers.
- Experience of office administration processes, mailing, scanning, filing and use of information systems.
