AWE is looking for Blast Analysis Engineers to work in the Applied Engineering team. It takes a special sort of person to work at AWE. What if that person was you?
The Applied Engineering team help underwrite the performance of the warhead through a combination of testing and computer simulation.
Role: Blast Engineers
Location: Reading Area
Closing date: 3rd April 2024
Salary: £44,990 - £65,000 ( depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Successful Candidates will be responsible for:
  • Planning and post analysis of trials to ensure programme objectives are met.
  • Testing activities include trials at the UK’s Air Blast Tunnel and other smaller scale tests.
  • Post analysis activities will include working with large datasets and some modelling may be required. In time, the successful candidates may be required to apply their skillset to other engineering and scientific problems.
  • Training and development will be provided as required.

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
  • Strong physics and/or engineering educational background (or equivalent).
  • A good grasp of mathematical and engineering concepts.
  • An ability to solve physics and engineering problems.
  • An ability to work as part of a team with multiple stakeholders.

We would like to hear from candidates that could demonstrate knowledge and experience in some or all of the following:
  • Applying a Systems Engineering approach to planning blast trials (or equivalent).
  • Applying loads to test items and predicting or validating response.
  • Post analysis of large datasets.
  • Blast modelling and/or testing.
  • Scientific report writing.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas if required.
