The Role:
We are on the lookout for an experienced fitter who is ready to transition from fieldwork to a more stable, workshop-based environment. This role is perfect for those wanting to put their tools and ladders aside and step into a role that combines both hands-on technical work and Workshop Supervisory responsibilities.
This dual-role position offers a unique opportunity to expand your technical set of skills towards a supervisor role in the future allowing you to take on responsibilities such as inventory management, targeted technical support, systems handling and project monitoring.
Background and Experience:
- Professional Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in the blinds and curtains industry, with a focus on manufacturing, installation, and possibly repair of both manual and motorized systems.
- Supervisory or Admin Role: Previous exposure to a supervisory or admin position, preferably within a similar industry, able to demonstrate workshop management and operational oversight.
- Education: A relevant vocational qualification in a field like carpentry, construction, manufacturing, or similar is beneficial but not needed.
- Attributes: An organized person, a problem-solver who is adaptable and has good time management and organizational skills.
Main Technical Skills responsibilities:
- Blinds Manufacturing and Repair: workshop based manufacturing and repairing of various types of blinds and curtains when needed.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using a range of hand and power tools necessary for blind and curtain manufacturing and installation.
- Quality Assurance: A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, bespoke products.
- Hands-On Assistance: Occasional help with heavy loads in the curtain workroom and occasionally assist on-site when fitting large or complex blinds installations requiring coordination.
Main Workshop Supervisor responsibilities:
- Warehouse Management: Oversee goods, parts, and systems incoming and outgoing from the warehouse.
- Fabric and Systems Handling: Manage fabric deliveries and update systems; prepare systems for upcoming projects.
- Supplier Coordination: Liaise with suppliers to chase deliveries and ensure timely arrival of materials.
- Inventory Management: Keep stock of motors, parts, and hardware; reorder supplies as needed.
- Project Monitoring: Update the system with project statuses and item details.
- Technical Support: Provide technical advice to the office team regarding blinds, curtains, tracks, and motorization.
