Equans is looking for a Boiler Plant Operator to join our team in Newcastle on a permanent basis. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
- Fulfilling site(s) health, safety and environmental, quality and customer service targets
- Ensuring the continued safe and efficient operation of existing plant and equipment.
- To ensure that the Line Manager is kept well informed of all aspects of safety performance, plant performance and customer circumstances which may impact upon the safe, efficient, reliable and cost effective operation of the plant and smooth operation of the contract.
- Safely and efficiently operating Boiler Plant and water treatment equipment.
- Taking Part in a 5 man shift rota covering 24/7 attendance onsite including adhoc hours providing a 42hr week average. Holiday and sickness cover is expected within these additional hours..
- To follow the company procedures and standards as expressed in the Company Handbook
- To complete all administrative functions correctly and efficiently, either paper log books or by using appropriate IT software, e.g. Maintenance Management System.
- To become fully familiar with all Company and site procedures, which affect him and carry out all responsibilities detailed in the Integrated Company Management System (iCMS).
- To represent the Company well to customers and external agencies by reasonable dress and demeanour and ensure the site and all Company property are maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
- To seek opportunities to enhance the Company’s relationship with its existing customers and develop business potential
- Involvement in the creation of a full set of boiler house S.O.P. Proof reading of S.O.P’s and ongoing monitoring
- Co ordinating the training of new boiler house personnel and ongoing training of current staff.
- Carry out and maintain a record of Boiler house quality/ competency checks
- Manage contingency plan and complete 2 exercise/ desk top incidents per year and discuss how its managed onsite as a team. Tie in with SOPs
Technician is expected to ensure the smooth running and continued supply of steam and raw resources used within the Prudhoe site. This will be achieved by.
- To complete all administrative functions correctly and efficiently, either paper log books or by using appropriate IT software, e.g. Maintenance Management System.
- Carry out Basic fault finding within systems covered by Engie’s contractual responsibility
- To become fully familiar with all Company and site procedures, which affect him and carry out all responsibilities detailed in the Integrated Company Management System (iCMS).
- To represent the Company well to customers and external agencies by reasonable dress and demeanour and ensure the site and all Company property are maintained in a clean and tidy condition.

- Preferable Working knowledge of facilities operation and or maintenance of Steam boilers, Air compressors, Water Treatment/Effluent Plant. Training will be provided to the right applicant.
- Good IT skills, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and database systems
- Understanding of safe working practices and desire to work safely at all times.
- Be able to demonstrate self motivation

Qualifications or Required Experience:
- Ability to carry out work in an industrial setting and recognize safe working practices.
- Experience of working with large utility plant such as boilers and compressors is desirable although training will be given..
- Experience of water treatment plant desirable.
- SOBA or BAOS training completed is advantageous.
- Must have a strong SHEQ working ethic
- Must be willing to work adhoc hour sand cover shifts as required.
