Job description

Job Title:Bookkeeper/Administrator
Location: Newport
Salary: £23,000 per annum

Hours: Full time. Monday - Friday days regular
Here at The Recruitment Co we are currently looking for a Bookkeeper/Administrator to work for a company based in Newport
The role will typically include sales and purchase ledgers, filing of paperwork and all other ad hoc office duties. The applicant would need to have good computer skills, a driving licence would be helpful, willingness to work within a team.
You will be responsible for keeping QuickBooks up to date

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accounts payable and receivable.
  • Credit control ( managing payments, receipts, expenses and adjustments ).
  • Daily financial entries and reconciliations, invoicing and report generation.
  • Monthly accounts to send to our external accounting firm.
  • Assisting colleagues if required with order processing and despatch
  • General office / admin tasks to support the team
  • Place Stationary orders for the office as and when required
  • Answer busy office phone liaising with clients and suppliers
  • Enter all purchase invoices on to QuickBooks accounting system ready for the accountant to oversee.
  • Chase up outstanding payments
  • keeping QuickBooks up to date
  • booking goods in
  • Maintaining a log of all work undertaken on behalf of clients using our CRM System.


Qualifications and Relevant Experience

  • Bookkeeping experience is essential
  • Ideally quickbooks experience but we are open to Xero, Sage or any other similar software experience
  • First and foremost, ideally you'll have experience of credit control / reconciliation / Bookkeeping.
  • You'll strive to maintain the highest standards in your work, by having a keen eye for detail and pinpoint accuracy.
  • You're a real team player and go above and beyond to support others.
  • You will need to be confident using Microsoft Office applications.
  • You will be a natural investigator and enjoy solving queries.
  • You're excellent at handling large volumes of data effectively and efficiently, whilst working to tight deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems.
  • Strong knowledge how book bookkeeping works
  • Handy if you know how to use QuickBooks
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills.
  • Excellent Organisational Skills.
  • Formal qualifications are not required
  • Bookkeeping qualifications would be desirable.
