Responsibilities
Customer Service Putting customers (external and internal) first by:
Acknowledging customers as quickly as possible in a friendly and welcoming manner; leading by example and acting as a role model for your team
Ensuring customer needs are met or exceeded by managing rotas by effectively deploying staff and delegating work tasks
Encouraging the team and developing staff to use and grow their knowledge and to anticipate customer needs
Developing long term friendly and professional relationships with customers, other branch managers and Sales Development Managers (as appropriate)
Identifying and implementing ways to meet and exceed customer expectations and requirements
Ensuring customer needs are met at all times and in a timely manner
Management and Leadership Demonstrating an interest and understanding of effective team working and working productively with others to achieve the shared Company objectives by:
Participating in recruitment and selection
Regularly reviewing performance, carrying out probation progress meetings and annual performance reviews
Regularly assessing training needs; nominating staff for training and coaching team in the skills and knowledge required for their individual roles
• Taking responsibility for aspects of managing the team including holiday booking, absence management, return to work interviews, well being meetings and formal meetings when required, highlighting any concerns to the Branch Manager
Actively listening, consulting and communicating with staff
Arranging with Branch manager agency staff to cover holidays/absence
Warehouse Ensuring the effective and efficient warehouse operation providing effective support for sales teams by:
Planning the layout of stock and the intake of goods in liaison with the buyer/Stock Co-ordinator
Ensuring booking in and booking out procedures are observed
Ensuring specials and sold orders are extracted and that the right members of the team are informed of receipt
Ensuring goods received are stored promptly and ensuring that stock is properly rotated
Ensuring customer orders for delivery and collection and IBT's are picked accurately and promptly
Spot checking orders and Inter Branch Transfers (IBT)
Maintaining the warehouse to agreed standards
Deliveries/Vehicle Maintenance Ensuring the road worthiness of the delivery vehicle and a high standard of presentation to appropriately represent the Company brand in the wider area by:
Ensuring vehicles are kept clean, tidy and properly maintained
Ensuring goods for delivery are loaded in a systematic and safe way
Helping drivers plan delivery rounds to ensure customer requirements are met in full and that vehicles leave within time frame agreed with the Branch Manager
Buying and arranging delivery of diesel (as applicable)
Ensuring adherence to transport legislation
Arranging weekly driver and monthly TACO downloads and liaise with Transport dept if required
Arranging Roll On/Roll Off delivery
Driving with care and courtesy either FLT or company vehicles
Adhering to Company systems and policies in relation to driving including mobile phone usage whilst driving
Stock Management Purchasing stock at the most economic terms to meet demand whilst keeping investment in accordance with stock targets by:
Creating and monitoring stock profiles of every item in stock and adjusting as required
Regularly reviewing and adjusting rates of sale and stock levels
Checking suggested orders and placing orders as appropriate for these and special sold orders with agreed internal and external suppliers
Communicating with relevant colleagues to ensure customers are advised of the progress of their order
Overseeing the delivery and booking in of stock and customer orders
Performing perpetual inventory checks and adjusting where necessary
Optimising efficiencies through bulk orders, working with the Stock Co-ordinator as appropriate
Initiating action to clear excess, slow selling, clearance and damaged stock
Supervising the annual stock take
Organising branch transfers/inter branch transfers orders
Sales Development Developing profitable sales by:
Planning and agreeing sales development and forecasts
Monitoring and communicating results
Pro-actively selling the Company’s product range in the shop or on the telephone

Suggesting and organising local sales campaigns, initiatives and trade days
Ensuring merchandising displays are refreshed in a timely manner to incorporate hotspots and promotional offers
Effectively merchandising the sales area including cleanliness, tidiness and pricing

Making and following up quotations
Opening and managing new account customers
Building a network of customers and potential customers
