Department Overview…

Following the coming together of Warner Bros. and Discovery, along with the Joint Venture with BT Sport, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have become a world leader in Entertainment and Sports and continues to grow its portfolio. The Broadcast technology and IT systems for the production and delivery of this portfolio have been designed and built by our teams, to ensure the world class standard for which WBD and BT Sport are known, continues and is enhanced.

Our Teams build, implement, and maintain the broadcast systems and technology that are critical for delivering WBD’s products, while shaping the long-term technology strategy that will enable WBD’s growing pay-tv, digital terrestrial, free-to-air, sports, and online services to reach more audiences on more platforms. Across a global stage we are driving WBD forward on the leading edge of technology

Your New Role…

In this role you will assist the support of live productions for TNT Sports and Discovery/Eurosport. We support a number of sport productions such as football, cricket, rugby and cycling.

The role is part of the Broadcast engineering team providing engineering tier 1 support for studios, production, and post-production with a keen focus on delivering for our operational and production partners. As part of the wider engineering group, you will work closely with the other Tier 1 teams in Chiswick and Paris. Also working with the Tier 2 and Tier 3 teams to resolve issues and continuously improve the broadcast platforms, as well as being involved in wider projects with leading industry experts.

The role is based in Stockley Park, London working on a shift-based pattern including weekends and occasional nights. Some work on other sites, particularly Chiswick Park, will be required.

The ideal candidate will be organised and eager to become a Production Support Engineer.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Assist the delivery of all engineering requirements, alongside other engineering teams.
  • Work with Production to ensure the smooth running of live events.
  • Implement ticketing through to resolution, carry out repairs and maintenance.
  • Assist team projects as required, assist the Projects team with large scale work.
  • Ensure that shared technical documentation is updated, and that good communication is practiced.
  • Assist Management and the Lead Broadcast Engineers as required.
  • Respond to all stakeholders in a positive, friendly and proactive manner.
  • Follow a health & safety culture, with relevant maintenance, and safe operating practices.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • You must be a recent university graduate, having graduated no earlier than July 2022.
  • An understanding of the production engineering environment.
  • An understanding of the broadcast chain.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Stays calm but excels in high pressure and time critical broadcast production environments.
  • Good Broadcast technical background (IP video 2110, AES 67, NMOS, UHD & HD video, HDR & SDR video, 5.1 & Dolby Atmos audio, Graphics, VR/AR, replay and codecs…).
  • An understanding of IT technologies and the associated challenge (network, virtualization, storage, cloud services, security…).
  • Ability to learn and keep up with technical changes, in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent communications and documentation skills.
  • Strong team member with self-motivation.
  • An appreciation of health & safety best practice.

The above requirements are desirable but not essential. Candidates with a strong technical background, drive to learn and aptitude, will be considered. We can offer extensive training and development to the right candidate.

The Internship...

  • Salary: £27,000
  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • Start Date: Likely to be 9th September 2024
  • You will gain hands-on experience working on business-critical projects.

  • Stage 4: Assessment Centres & Interviews will take place May-June.
