Job description

Purpose:
Manchester United Foundation believes every young person should feel empowered to achieve their goals and uses the power of football and Manchester United to support young people to make positive choices in their live.
This role is within the Outreach Team with the aim of using the power of Manchester United Foundation and Club to engage, inspire and progress young people closer to employment.
The role specifically works within the partnership with St Josephs to deliver inspirational Manchester United Foundation programmes to their pupils including the management of the team based from St Josephs High School (Derry/Londonderry).
The Role:
  • Act as a mentor to a designated group of student athletes, fostering their personal development, confidence, and knowledge of the football industry and its employment opportunities.
  • Deliver daily, timetabled Football Coaching sessions tailored to the age and ability of student athletes.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide a coaching pack highlighting student athlete development and related programs, sessions, and activities.
  • Support competitive match day activities as directed by the Outreach Manager.
  • Maintain registers, collect relevant data, information, and evidence of good practice to meet funding conditions and formulate case studies.
  • Complete risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with Manchester United Foundation and Manchester United Football Club policies.
  • Attend seminars, networking events, and exhibitions relevant to the role, using acquired information to influence current and future partner school programs.
  • Uphold the Foundation's code of conduct in all activities, delivery, and physical appearance.
  • This job role may require some travel to Manchester.

The Person:
  • Want to make a positive difference to young people.

  • People skills: self-assured, able to build rapport, empathetic, emotionally intelligent, and approachable.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding best practices.
  • Knowledge of implementing policies and procedures, especially health and safety and risk assessments.
Knowledge:
  • National Curriculum and Education Training Inspectorate
  • Premier League Programmes.
  • Education and Training Organisations.
Experience:
  • Previous practical experience working with young people aged 16 to 21.
  • Coaching and developing through the Youth Development phase.
Skills:
  • Organisational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
  • Inclusive in all areas of work.
  • Ability to capture success and report on the impact of your work.
Qualifications:
  • Strong functional skills in Mathematics and English.
  • UEFA B Licence and relevant support qualifications
  • A full driving license with access to own car for business use – Desirable
