Building Safety Manager

Our client is looking for a Building Safety Manager to join their team on a temporary contract until August 2024. The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for co-ordination and management of all matters relating to structural and fire safety in in-scope buildings to meet current and forthcoming legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversight of any/all post initial development construction, maintenance, repair or servicing work undertaken.
• Oversight of contractors on site, including planned maintenance contractors, repair contractors, mechanical and electrical contractors. The Principal Contractor retains responsibility for their works and operatives under their control.
• Liaising with Principal Contractors when work is being undertaken on site.
• Intervention with contractors if not complying with safe practices on site. Paying particular attention to the requirements of the building fire strategy, fire safety management and upholding the integrity of fire compartmentation
• Escalation of any contractual issues relating to Building Safety including liaison with relevant supervisors/managers to ensure remedial action is undertaken.

You will need:

• Hold a valid nationally recognised fire safety qualification with an appropriate body such as Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or Institute of Fire Safety Management (IFSM)
• Extensive experience of contract and delivery management of major fire safety projects.
• Experience of working in a housing environment, preferably in a housing association or local authority environment.
• Experience of managing a budget and operating in accordance with financial policy and requirements.
