Grant Palmer Ltd is Bedfordshire's best bus company. We're locally owned, financially secure and forward thinking.
We run throughout Bedfordshire, including on the Luton & Dunstable Busway, which pays a premium rate for double deck driving. As a full-time driver, you will work a 4 day week, with a choice of rota and great opportunities for overtime if you want it.
You could work on a full-time basis, part-time, school bus hours, or zero-hours contracts to suit you.
Working full-time over 4 days will give you typical basic earnings of £29,000 per year. With overtime you earn £36,000 (5 day week) or £43,000 (6 day week). The hourly rate is £15.00 per hour. Sunday working is only ever voluntary, paid at £19.50 per hour.
For our double deck busway services, you'll receive £16.50 per hour (£21.00 per hour on Sundays), taking basic earnings on this rota to £34,000 per year. With overtime you could earn up to £50,000.
PLEASE NOTE - To be a Busway Lion you need to be an experienced PCV licensed driver with busway experience in Luton or Cambridge or two years big bus driving experience.
Total meal breaks above 90 minutes are paid on duty.

UMBRELLA and PAYE - We're a proper bus company and you will be paid through PAYE as part of the Grant Palmer family, and that means job security, and lots of benefits. We won't be pay you through an umbrella company but so you can compare our pay against umbrella company rates, there's a comparison below:-
Standard rate of £15 per hour is equivalent to £18.65 through an umbrella company.
Busway rate of £16.50 per hour is equivalent to £20.40 through an umbrella company.
Sunday busway rate of £21 per hour is equivalent to £24 through an umbrella company.
With our PAYE arrangement, you get lots of other valuable benefits, job security and full statutory employment rights. And we'll be paying employer national insurance, holiday pay and pension contributions too.
