The Service:
The role of Portsmouth Adult Safeguarding is to help keep people at risk of harm in Portsmouth safe. The team receives referrals from numerous sources, raising concerns about the safety and wellbeing of adults across the city. The purpose of the team is to consider these referrals and make decisions on actions required to keep people safe.
The Role:
Working towards a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship where you will:
Provide general administrative support to social work practitioners, accurately add data to client's social care records.
Take telephone calls from other professionals, members of the public, and family members of clients. Manage a number of Outlook inboxes and respond to internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Take accurate minutes at highly confidential meetings. Record data about safeguarding referrals accurately on Excel spreadsheets
What you'll need to succeed
You need to have:
1. Strong literacy and numeracy skills - basic Maths and English GCSE /Functional Skills
2. Experience of using Excel, Word and Outlook - an intermediate ability at the use of Excel and Outlook in particular would be desirable with a willingness to learn new skills in IT applications.
3. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential.
4. Patience and empathy, both with customers on the telephone and with colleagues’ queries
5. The ability to work well under pressure.
6. Experience of taking business phone calls and recording messages
7. Experience of using databases and an understanding of the implications of recording inaccurate data
8. An understanding of data protection, information governance, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential data in an objective and discreet manner.
9. Familiarity with the principles of efficient electronic filing
10. Ability to self-prioritise and to work with minimal supervision.
