Social Security Scotland currently offers a unique opportunity for a Business Analyst to join our Chief Digital Office. You will work across a number of specialisms, taking responsibility for smaller to medium size initiatives and work with Senior Business Analysts on more complex activities and artefacts.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Business Analyst to progress their career within our fast-paced design and delivery organisation.
The Business Analysis team sits within the Service Management and Service Development branch which is responsible for the maintenance and further development of the live benefit services being delivered to clients. Our Business and Systems analysis practice will continually respond and support emerging business requirements whilst providing technical analysis of our various digital platforms. We are a growing team of over 30 analysts from a variety of backgrounds and individuals joining now have the opportunity to help shape and develop our practice and ways of working.
DDaT Pay Supplement
This post attracts a £5000 Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) pay supplement after a 3 months DDaT competency qualifying period. The payment will be backdated to your start date in the role. Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review. This post is part of the Scottish Government DDaT profession. As a member of the profession you will join the professional development system, currently BCS RoleModelplus.
Main Duties
• Engaging with stakeholders to build strong working relationships through stakeholder analysis and management, working closely with the project team to define an approach to meet the customer needs.
• Support customers/stakeholders through transformational/change programmes.
• Lead and deliver business analysis products for small to medium size initiatives and support on large and complex initiatives, in accordance with project requirements and overall business objectives, including pre-and post-project work such as impact analysis and benefits management.
• Responsible for components of options appraisals, impact assessments and benefits realisation.
• Apply a range of techniques to establish and analyse the current state, as is, people, processes and technology in customer organisations and the relevant requirements likely to affect business change.
• Clearly define, document and ensure sign off of business requirements using user story format and/or prototype development.
• Support the identification of options, and create associated documentation, to deliver enhanced outcomes for citizens and organisations through better use of technology.
• Support the analysis and investigation of system issues to provide workable solutions.
• Build and maintain a deep understanding and awareness of Social Security Agency operations function and help stakeholders to explore technology and process improvements that will allow them to more effectively execute their roles.
• Collaborate with other professions within scope of the delivery to embed the Business Analysis role and value in the context of a project and multidisciplinary team.
• Have people management responsibilities and support mentoring across teams.
• Explain, and be a persuasive advocate for the value of user needs within the wider Scottish Government.
