Job description

A bit about us

2024 is a big year for us as we turn 200 years young! We are proud of our long standing history in campaigning for a better world for animal  welfare. We were the first to introduce a law to protect animals and have been working hard ever since  to ensure that all animals can live free from pain and suffering. Through our campaigns we raise standards of care, and awareness of issues, affecting animals today. Our vision is to one day live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. And that is what we work towards every day.

We are looking for two new team members as Business Analysts, working as part of the Planning and Performance team reporting into a Senior Business Analyst

We are offering these roles as 24 month fixed term contracts.

Working hours: 35 hours - Monday - Friday. Please let us know if you would like to discuss flexible working options; we are definitely open to these.

You can take on this role as either a hybrid worker or a home worker, depending on your personal circumstances.

Travel requirements:

● Quarterly face to face community meetings (national).
● Ad-hoc travel (national) related to project activity.
● Where possible and suitable we would like to meet in person for 1-1 monthly catch ups - it's always nice to connect in person and build strong relationships!

If you live locally to a hub, we would encourage you to work from the office more often; for example 1 day a week, however, this isn't mandated and we are always open to being flexible to allow for what works best for you.

Our office hubs are in Horsham, West Sussex and in Blackfriars, London.

Are you ready to be part of our journey and make a difference?

Benefits

We offer a wide range of benefits to recognise your contributions at RSPCA.

  • 35 hour week
  • Great Annual Leave benefits - 25 days annual leave on joining increasing each year to a maximum of 31 days (pro rata for part-time)
  • Additional Society day around Christmas.
  • Flexibility in hours - with the introduction of Core Hours staff can work their 35 hours flexibly across Monday to Friday. Core hours are 10.00am - 15.00 (please note this isn't available for our frontline animal care roles)
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Career development through our in-house Learning & Development training
  • Charity worker discounts: Access to hundreds of discounts across many retailers, travel, insurance & cinema tickets.
  • Dog friendly offices at our London & South East Hub!
What a day might look like for you

Here at RSPCA we know it's a cliche but no two days are the same, as a Business Analyst we've added a short summary of what the role entails, for a full insight please refer to the attached job description.

The Business Analyst role purpose is to provide independent analysis (research, advice, recommendations, conclusions and options) to support business decision making at all levels of the organisation. This role will support our Transformation Programmes. BAs utilise extensive experience, knowledge and skills to understand and resolve the root causes of problems, delivering the right solution at the right time in the right way. BAs at the RSPCA build strong relationships throughout the organisation as trusted professionals.

The BAs support business domains through simple and effective articulation of the complexities of current and future states, ensuring an appropriate level for each audience, and providing clarity to facilitate informed decision making.

BAs are also responsible for collaboration with other technical specialists, including support teams, solution architects, data architects, and programme/project managers. It is therefore essential that they are able to adapt to and work with the different industry standards to reduce potential misunderstandings or confusion. These include but are not limited to; iTil, SOA, Agile, Prince 2, Waterfall, TOGAF

What makes a great Business Analyst

The successful candidate has demonstrable experience of the following areas:

  • Exercising substantial personal responsibility and autonomy. Using substantial discretion in identifying and responding to complex issues and assignments as they relate to the deliverable/scope of work.
  • Industry standard Business Analysis methods and toolsets with regards to core BA capabilities (Requirements Analysis, Process Analysis, Business Change, Data Analysis, Facilitation, Enterprise Analysis, Digital Transformation, Stakeholder Analysis, Business Architecture, User Research, Digital Transformation)
  • Business Analysis delivery on enterprise level projects, aligned to core BA capabilities above.
  • Working within information management.
  • Enabling digital transformation.
  • Working within different project methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
  • Senior stakeholder engagement and communication.
  • Implementation, cutover & service transition.
  • Working in a comparable environment in terms of Enterprise size, scale and complexity.
Final note from us & good luck with your application!

We are offering these roles as 24 month fixed term contracts.

We are really lucky that some of our roles attract a high level of interest and for this reason we review applications as they are received, unfortunately on some occasions this means roles may close earlier than advertised; so early submissions are highly recommended.

We want to ensure we do all we can to give you a positive candidate experience through our recruitment. Whilst we do try to give feedback where we can, sometimes due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible

We recognise that a diverse and inclusive workforce is essential to achieving our core mission. For this reason we actively encourage a wide diversity of applications - in particular from members of minority ethnic groups, and people with disabilities - as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA.

Should you need any support with your application or interview process please contact resourcingteam@rspca.org.uk

Our mission is to ensure animals have a good life by rescuing and caring for those in need, by advocating on behalf of all animals and by inspiring everyone to treat them with compassion and respect
