Business Consultant

MCS Group is proud to be partnering with a charity based in Lisburn in the search for a skilled Business Consultant to work with new business start-ups, developing and growth businesses. The role will involve working in a small team environment, so good communication skills and “can-do” attitudes are essential. This role would suit an individual who is ambitious, confident and motivated to deliver the highest level of service to clients.

The role:

• Provide a professional business advice service to clients interested in starting or growing their business. Supporting clients in a range of areas including marketing, accessing finance, financial planning, business planning, legal aspects, ICT, innovation, productivity and cost reduction techniques.
• Prepare business plans, including financial projections, for new and established businesses
• Maintain a portfolio of client businesses and proactively develop relationships with businesses and individuals eligible for support as well as encouraging clients to network with other relevant support organisations
• Deliver business start-up and business development support services, to include pre-enterprise initiatives, outreach programmes and other initiatives run by the Organisation.
• Ensure that programmes are delivered within agreed budgets and output targets attained.
• Design & delivery of training workshops and seminars
• Event planning and management.
• Assist in the identification and development of new programmes and initiatives to increase enterprise awareness and business start-up rates in Lisburn
• Developing a professional network within the field of business support to which clients can be referred.
• Represent the Organisation at various events.
• Maintaining and updating various websites and deploying other social media tools for marketing purposes.
• Deputise for the Chief Executive when required.
• Any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time by the Chief Executive to contribute to the effective functioning of the organisation.

The Person

Two years’ experience in a role providing business advice to businesses at start-up, early-stage development, or growth stage and experience in the following areas and a relevant degree level qualification preferably Marketing, Business or finance related.

OR

Five years’ experience in a role providing business advice to businesses at start-up, early-stage development, or growth stage and experience in the following areas.

• Experience in business planning and financial forecasting
• Experience in the design and delivery of training and/or development programmes for new and existing businesses
• Excellent communication skills incorporating skilled report writing and presentation skills
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the needs and issues facing small businesses in Northern Ireland.
• Proven business acumen with strong commercial awareness
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage a range of initiatives
• Professional approach
• Ability to work to targets and deadlines
• Experience delivering business planning mentoring to a wide range of business sectors

The Rewards:

• £35-40k
• 30 days annual leave including stats, increasing with service

• 6% contributory pension
