The Opportunity
Given recent and forecasted growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a specialist nuclear engineering consultancy within the Warrington area.
The role
As a Business Development Manager, you will lead the development of strategies for key and new client accounts.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- As a Business Development Manager, you will lead the development of short- and medium-term key account and Business Development strategies for specific client accounts.
- Support the Head of Business Development to develop and maintain a contact programme with senior staff within client and partner organisations. Maintain regular contact with existing future potential customers.
- Develop Account Plans, Opportunity Capture Plans and Value Propositions.
- Support the Head of Business Development with developing Order Intake forecasts and budgets.
- Secure approval to pursue opportunities and to bid, including presenting details of opportunities.
- Anticipate new opportunities and support tendering activities by providing market intelligence to bids teams, or sometimes direct technical input or review.
- Keep track of market developments amongst clients, competitors, and suppliers, and look for opportunities to facilitate growth.
- Interface collaboratively within the business winning team, including marketing & communications and tendering, and with wider business including technical disciplines and functions, in the UK and abroad.
- Proven experience in the nuclear sector with demonstrable evidence of successful previous Key Account and New Business Development.
- An extensive network of contacts in both customer and client organisations, and organisations within the associated nuclear supply chain. This should include senior contacts.
- The ability to confidently liaise with external stakeholders and team members, both oral and written.
- Be able to independently seek out or develop one’s own answer to challenging technical questions.
- Have a questioning attitude – ability to analyse situations and challenge the conditions, activities or solutions to support continuous improvement and develop areas of best practice.
- Organisational excellence – ability to organise one’s own time and the time of others to ensure internal / external deadlines are achieved and Client expectations are exceeded.
- Reactivity - ability to respond quickly and effectively to unforeseen situations.
- Integrity and Inclusivity – ability to take responsibility for one’s own actions and foster an inclusive working environment where all members of the team are respected and given equal opportunity to participate. Leadership - desire to lead and support the development of more junior members of the team.
- Has a broad understanding of activities across the UK nuclear market with specific knowledge of the sites / companies associated with the NDA estate, nuclear defence, new build, SMRs/AMRs or fusion.
- To be successful you must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.
- You must have or be able to obtain as a minimum ‘SC’ UK Security Clearance.
