About the role:
Astute’s Renewables team is exclusively retained due to longstanding and successful relationships, with a visionary client who are looking to decarbonise the UK road freight sector. The client intends to significantly contribute to cleaner air in our cities by offering refuelling to vans and HGVs by developing a refuelling network consisting of renewable natural gas, hydrogen and battery electric.

The Business development Manager role comes with a salary of up to �55,000 and we want someone who is particularly motivated to initiate and progress early-stage partnerships with major UK commercial vehicle fleets.

Please note that the salary banding is quite wide for good reason and will be properly qualified upon a conversation with Tim Norford at Astute.
Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to a Business Development Manager you will:

* Pro-actively generate new customer engagement leads through profiling and outreach to potential prospects, comprising primarily UK van and truck fleet operators
* Lead and attend client meetings, deploying a consultative approach to engagement and sales that prioritises understanding fleets’ needs and informing the client’s product development
* Draft and develop marketing materials needed to educate and persuade Councils, landowners, customers and others about low carbon and zero emission fuels, and to partner with the client
* Represent the company with energy and enthusiasm at industry events, conferences, meetings, and activities
* Lead the organisation of their attendance at key industry exhibitions/conferences and marketing events, bringing other team members with you where desired
* Feedback customer needs to the Associate Director – Customer Engagement and Founding Directors to evolve the business plan and sales strategy over time
* Inform and contribute to overall business planning with insight to the risk, health and safety, and operational standards and practices of the van and truck logistics sector
* As a committed member of a cohesive internal team, proactively provide advice, input, recommendations and support to other aspects of the business
* Ensure that all customer engagements are accurately reported within the CRM system
* Other duties as required

Professional qualifications & experience:
We are looking for someone with the following:

* At least three years’ experience fulfilling most, if not all of the above
* A relevant degree or equivalent accreditation, ie in engineering, sustainability or renewable energy
* Demonstrable experience of developing and managing customer engagement activities
* Demonstrable experience of leading pitches and presentations

Personal skills:
The Business Development Manager role would suit someone who is/has:

* Excellent drive for results and who has a consultative style of selling
* A clear and effective communicator, both orally and written
* A genuine interest in the sector and in the nation’s decarbonisation goals
* Someone who is very commercially savvy
