We are recruiting a Business Engagement Officer with focus on the Faculty of Humanities. The post will support the development of interactions between the University with industry as well as public and third sector partners. Duties will include: supporting academic colleagues in generating income and research opportunities with industry; identifying opportunities for research and knowledge exchange collaborations, supporting the development of relationships with external partner organisations; providing support and advice to Faculty researchers on ongoing industrial interactions; and promoting the resources and expertise of the Faculty and University to external organisations.
This position will contribute to the development and implementation of the University’s and Faculty’s Business Engagement and knowledge exchange strategy and supporting objectives. The new post will have a focus on supporting the School of Social Sciences and will work with the existing Faculty Business Engagement team to support the rest of the Faculty discipline areas. Applications are welcomed from individual with expertise and interest in themes with potential for the Humanities disciplines to significantly impact societal challenges areas including Sustainable Futures, Digital Transformation, Healthy & Inclusive Ageing, Data Security, Business Innovation, Creative & Cultural Sector, Future Infrastructure & Smart Cities, Industry 4.0.
The role holder will be based within and report primarily to the relevant Faculty while also being a member of the University-wide Business Engagement & Knowledge Exchange (BEKE), part of the Directorate of Research and Business Engagement. They will work with colleagues to develop and implement strategic objectives for the University’s engagement with business including addressing opportunities for fully funded collaborative research with business, industry, governmental agencies, and other appropriate organisations in response to arising priority areas.
