Our Client is a Chemical Distribution Company. They currently have a vacancy for a Commercial Assistant (Business or Science Graduate or equivalent). This position will be office based near Wokingham, Berkshire and is a full-time permanent role reporting to the Commercial Manager.
Job Purpose
- This is a new, full-time, permanent position merging supplier liaison with sales support in a commercial capacity, based at the head office near Bracknell.
- The primary function of the role is to work as the Commercial Assistant with pricing responsibilities and focusing primarily on the Personal Care market, with some overlap into Industrial markets.
- The role requires liaising closely with the Commercial Manager, sales teams, suppliers and colleagues across all divisions of the company.
- The role requires someone who is comfortable in an active sales environment, ready to turn their hand to any aspect of working within a busy SME as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate pricing for new business strategically and competitively while reviewing regular business pricing to react to changes in the market.
- Maintaining price lists for sales team and internal pricing system for traceability and cover.
- Maintain a buying pricing system and getting the best raw material prices from suppliers to support sales team.
- Work closely with Commercial Manager and Principal Manager.
- Attend business reviews with suppliers and create / contribute to presentations for the reviews to ensure they are kept up to date with market situation and ongoing sales and projects.
- Liaise closely with other departments in the company including logistics, order processing and finance.
- Cover for Commercial Manager as needed.
Qualifications / Experience
Cultural fit for this role is essential. Our Client is looking for a can-do person who is happy to get stuck in to get the job done, whether the task falls into sales, commercial, marketing, technical, business development, logistics, or regulatory. Full product and marketing skills training will be provided where necessary.
- BSc in science or business (or equivalent).
- Mathematically skilled with attention to detail.
- Friendly, efficient customer service attitude and phone manner.
- Highly proficient at Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- The ability to listen and interpret needs of the team and suppliers.
- Forward-thinking & proactive attitude to problem solving.
- A social person who enjoys their job.
- Technical experience of working within the Personal Care and Homecare Industrial & Institutional (HC, I&I) markets or Industrial Chemical markets. (Preferred but not essential).
- Sales and commercial experience (Preferred but not essential).
In return our Client is offering a basic salary of 25,000 - 28,000 per annum plus benefits. (Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience).
