A day in the life of an Ascent Business Manager
As Business Manager for Ascent Flight Training at RAF Valley, you will work closely with the General Manager to manage H&S and regulatory compliance, monitor performance of contracts/suppliers, provide commercial advice, drive performance through accurate & timely reporting, and support the management of site budgets.
You will be part of a dedicated, experienced and diverse team in partnership with our customer, and other stakeholders to deliver outstanding training to student fast jet pilots. You will build strong relationships across all areas of the business, customer and supporting organisations.
You will:
- Display a safety first culture, managing health and safety on site and linking to the head office Safety and Assurance team;
- Contribute to air safety;
- Lead site business continuity and crisis management planning;
- Manage quality, legislative compliance and coordination of audits, including timely resolution of actions;
- Manage a small business support team;
- Review whole system performance to ensure accurate data and reporting;
- Locally manage subcontractor and supplier performance;
- Act as site commercial lead, linking to the head office commercial functions;
- Manage the change request process on site;
- Support the General Manager with budgeting, forecasting, purchasing and invoicing;
- Contribute to business risk management with ownership of risks and response plans as required.

You will be business minded with a breadth of experience working within customer focussed operations. You will thrive working as part a team of teams and your relationship building and communication skills will be vital in this dynamic enterprise.
You will enjoy working in a safety focussed environment, and have demonstrable office/contract management and/or commercial competence.
You will also:
- Have experience in managing health and safety matters;
- Have strong communications skills and experience working alongside customers and stakeholders;
- Have practical experience of office management in a dynamic customer facing environment;
- Exhibit good analytical, investigation mathematical and problem solving skills;
- Be able to demonstrate finance competence including ability to monitor site budget expenditure and contractor financial performance;
- Be a competent user of IT, including the Microsoft Office suite of applications and SharePoint, and possess the acumen to use specialist software with training.
