We are now looking for a 

 

Shaft Line Solutions - Manager SLS PMO

 

to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent, and the preferred location is in Porrino, Spain.

 

What you will be doing

 

As the Manager of the SLS PMO, you will lead and coordinate the PMO function to deliver Shaft Line Solutions (SLS) Strategic and Business Projects across the entire SLS organization. These projects include business strategic initiatives, Wärtsilä Continuous Improvement, product or solution development, and customer delivery. The successful candidate will be based full-time in Porrino, Spain, and will need to travel globally as required by business needs.

 

As Shaft Line Solutions - Manager SLS PMO your work will focus on these responsibilities: 
 

Global Responsibilities:

 

  • Define & propose SLS Project Management processes, identifying projects within PMO responsibility versus those managed by sites/other functions, and obtain approval from SLS MT to implement.
  • Lead and manage the development of the global PMO team, ensuring both business goals and individual team member development goals are achieved.
  • Collaborate with internal global multifunctional teams, including Senior Management (MT), Engineers, Operations, Field Service, and Sales.
  • Ensure effective customer relationships are maintained and developed, aiming to become a business partner of choice and create further sales opportunities.
  • Represent the business and business lines in project meetings with customers and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel globally to meet business stakeholder and customer needs.

 

Maturity Assessments & Audits:

 

  • Continuously assess and perform reviews, analyzing the SLS project management maturity, working with the PMO team to create and implement an agreed roadmap to improvement using lessons learned.
  • Monitor PMO/PM maturity and capability across SLS, ensuring compliance with SLS PM processes and audit requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements, health and safety legislation, and company processes and procedures for SLS PMO and Project Managers.

 

Team / People Development:

 

  • Lead and manage the development of the global PMO team, ensuring both business goals and individual team member development goals are achieved.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, coaching, and team lead skills with acute attention to detail, timescales, and reporting.
  • Manage remote teams effectively, ensuring their delivery of projects using virtual meeting tools.


Project Management & Coordination:

 

  • Maintain SLS PMO Project governance, ensuring all project plans are delivered to the agreed specification, on time, on budget, with any variations and change requests captured, effectively reported, and managed.
  • Monitor all projects across the SLS Business, report project KPIs including costs, schedule, and quality, and initiate corrective actions to ensure effective project delivery, communicating to stakeholders through project and business reviews.
  • Lead the management of the project lifecycle, ensuring effective communication, resource allocation, and expectation setting with all internal and external parties.
  • Communicate with project teams and business partners, resolving conflicts as needed.
  • Evaluate and present project proposals as part of the SLS Global Project Management Office 'Project Review Team' against feasibility, risk, and business value/profit.
  • Continuously seek to improve ways of working to enable effective project delivery.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 


Essential Skills & Attributes:

 

  • A strategic thinker with reflective and forward-looking perspectives.
  • In-depth background in technical Project Management, Programme Management, and Continuous Improvement Processes.
  • Practitioner of Project Management gated model process.
  • Minimum Project Management qualification as PMP, APM PMQ, or a relevant degree in project or business management.
  • Robust and effective communication skills and Programme Management knowledge.
  • Fluency in English and native Spanish, both verbal and written; knowledge of Chinese or Japanese is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the marine industry, with SLS portfolio knowledge as an advantage.

 

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers and stakeholders around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 15%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually
