Established in 2015, The Dorking & Guildford Butchery are award-winning Butchers shops located in Surrey. Supplying local, free range and organic meats to the area.
We specialise in dry-aged beef and practice whole carcass butchery. All products are made in-house and we hold time-honoured techniques above mass-produced offerings. A fast-paced busy shop with a keen eye for innovation and a mix of traditional and modern values. We emphasise the time taken to source our products and work directly with our suppliers and farmers.
Butcher requirements:
- We require an experienced candidate to manage the running of our busy shops.
- You will also be responsible for maintaining the shop floor, cutting room and driving sales.
- Butchery experience is essential but for the right candidate, training can be provided.
- We are looking for somebody who can work alongside the owners to keep the business moving forward. The correct candidate should be energetic, passionate, and looking for a fresh challenger.
- A background in customer service would be advantageous as the correct candidate would be required to assist customers as-well as prepare products for sale.
- The role will require own transport as the job may be split between Dorking and Guildford butchery. Not essential to work at both but would be preferable.
- The role will include assisting staff with day-to-day issues as well as organising their tasks for the day. Maintaining and delegating daily duties such as health and safety records, goods in records and temperature records.
Butcher responsibilities:
Breaking down carcasses whilst adhering to our butchery standards- Seeing in goods, temperature checking and quality control, maintaining HACCPS
- Ensure that our customers receive the best possible customer service at all times
- Drive sales by responding to customer enquiries and providing alternatives where necessary
Liaise with suppliers and place daily orders
Organise social media when required with our social media representative.
- Present a professional and friendly impression of the company at all times
- Assist in the maintenance of standards on the shop floor and for all displays and merchandise
- Replenish stock levels when needed, making sure the counter is always full
- Adhere to strict health and safety guidelines
Skills/ Experience:
- previous knife skills would be an advantage
- Good understanding of food preparation
- Food safety level 2 certificate would be preferred - can be provided but a high level of hygiene is expected.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately and consistently
- Attention to detail and accuracy with all tasks
- An understanding of food and how to cook
- Good communication skills
- Personable and friendly
- The ability to work within a team
Previous management experience would be essential
