Our client is a leading supplier of home textiles to the retail sector in the UK, who now have an excellent opportunity for a Buying Assistant / Product Developer to join their team based near Bolton.

The role:

You will be responsible for assisting the NPD Buyer to source and develop new products across multiple home textiles product ranges for own brand and own label for external customers.

Key Duties:

• Produce and accurately maintain Customer & Supplier Product Development Seasonal Trackers for all customers.
• Liaise with factories, sending new development enquiries, requesting prices & samples in line with the critical path.
• Manage designated tasks on the critical path meeting key dates, ensuring pricing and samples are managed in line with KPI’s.
• Support buyer on Product Development across all customers.
• Develop product knowledge across key product areas of Home Textiles
• Carry out market analysis to support the Buyer identify new products & opportunities, building own market knowledge.
• Logging and tracking all samples and swatches received in Design.
• Work closely with Design & QC, co-ordinating files for new development.
• Showroom display support, setting up for customers and product selection meetings.
• General Admin support for the Product Development & Design Function, including printer maintenance, stationery supplies & parcels.
• Supporting and attending shows.
• Assisting in the negotiating of prices, actioning costs, and samples.
• Stand-in to lead Customer meetings, taking feedback and actioning.
• Ensures teams are aware of the critical path in JRS meetings by flagging long leads and supplier issues.
• Presenting in meetings.

Key Competencies and Experience:

• An understanding of China and Pakistan sourcing.
• Knowledge of home textiles or transferable skills from other categories.
• Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills.
• Microsoft excel skills.
• Be able to work as a team and using own initiative.
