SalaryWe’re on the lookout for a CAD Design Engineer to join a highly reputable engineering firm at their site based in Hull.
In this role the successful candidate will formulate quotations, create cost estimates from engineering drawings, and identify cost-effective manufacturing processes, while working closely with suppliers and internal teams.
What’s on offer?
- £35,000 - £40,000 per year
- Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 4:30pm / Friday 7:30am – 12:00pm
- 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays)

What will you be doing as a CAD Design Engineer?
- Formulating quotations and creating estimate costs from CAD or engineering drawings
- Identifying cost-effective process routes for manufacturing components
- Working within a team of 3 estimators, including on-site sales and engineer support
- Developing programming skills for nesting and punching machines
- Reviewing RFQs and engineering drawings
- Communicating and negotiating with suppliers for subcontract costs
- Preparing cost sheets for individual components and assemblies
- Assisting with production components and material preparation
- Supporting business/costing queries through ERP system reviews
What do you need?
- Time served as an apprentice or a recognised engineering qualification
- 3d SolidWorks experience
- Sheet metal experience
- Amada software experience (desirable)
- Previous experience working on projects and liaising with clients
