As a Mechanical / Electrical CAD Design Engineer (Contractor), you will contribute to the Design Team of the SV Programme. You will contribute with a holistic approach to design engineering, taking into account factors such as safety, cost and ease of manufacture.
A typical day could include:
- Produce design solutions including concepts, packaging and platform installation design
- Integrity of the design solution, including safety
- Supporting the design process during the project lifecycle
- CAD Alignment to BOM at Platform Level
- BoM management at platform level
- Embodiment of Engineering Design Changes
- Ensure the installation design solutions fulfil the vehicle requirements
- Preparation of material for internal and external design reviews
- Effectively communicate design options & constraints to the Lead Engineer
Ideally, you may also have experience of some of the following:
- Proficient user of Pro Engineer Wildfire4/Creo/Creo 3
- Proficient user of Windchill PDMLink
- Design and development of mechanical components and systems
- Produce detail design drawings
- BoM management and maintenance
- Military Vehicle design (desirable)
- Experience of working within a defence orientated industry (desirable)
- Knowledge of standards relating to defence work e.g. Defence Standards (desirable)
General Dynamics Land Systems aims to be as flexible as possible so this role could either be based working from home, with a requirement for occasional travel to our site; or based within our offices in South Wales depending upon your preference.
General Dynamics Land Systems utilizes HMRC's CEST IR35 Status Review. The requirements of this contract have been evaluated as Inside IR35 - Prior to the engagement start you will need to complete a status questionnaire in order to receive the finalised status determination.
