CAE Structural Engineer required by a global leader in the development, manufacturing, and recycling of aluminium products and solutions, designing and manufacturing advanced alloys and engineered solutions for a wide scope of applications, from beverage cans to cars, planes, and more.

You will provide advanced FE simulation/modelling support for the development and industrialisation of innovative aluminium-intensive battery enclosures and Crash Management Systems (CMS). Providing FE design support from concept through to prototyping and full production in close partnership with major OEMs.

Responsibilities will incorporate:

• Participate in and lead FEA, supporting the new aluminium-intensive design concepts for Battery Enclosure & CMS applications (static, dynamic, NVH, fatigue and crash requirements).
• Provide expert FE design support during the concept development phases (design to space, optimised weight, structural requirements - static, crash, fatigue, legislation/specifications, testing/validation).
• Exchange FE/CAD data with the simulation team, and partner with OEMs/ specialist suppliers in developing FE methods to accurately simulate structural performance and to validate throughout testing.
• Provide simulation reports, presentation data, and applicable techniques, and contribute to the development of design & simulation best practices.

About you:

• Suitably qualified – Engineering degree/equivalent
• Relevant CAE experience in product development (desirable)
• Strong experience using FEA for NVH, durability, and fatigue (essential) (ideally 3+ years)
• Experience running explicit FEA simulations for crashworthiness analysis (desirable)
• Proficient user of ANSA, META, and Ls-Dyna.
• Strong ability in problem-solving and providing innovative solutions.
