The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the catering team at St Richard’s Hospice as a Kitchen/Cafe Assistant, to help provide freshly cooked, high quality meals for our patients, staff, volunteers and visitors as well as catering for functions and events both at the hospice and off site. As well as working in a brand-new kitchen you will be working in a superb newly built restaurant with a servery and barista style coffee machine.
This is an interesting and varied role; the successful applicant will assist Chefs with preparing and serving high quality and nutritious meals and will take responsibility for washing up and cleaning in the kitchen. Our focus is on customer satisfaction, presentation, great service and fresh food. You will need to have high standards of customer service and food safety knowledge.
This is a temporary 3 month role, some weekend work will be required on occasions.

About you
The successful applicant will be adaptable and able to work on their own initiative as well as being part of a team. A flexible attitude to working in all areas of the catering department is essential.
If you have a passion for catering, have excellent customer service skills and would like to make a difference to patients living with a terminal illness and their families we would love to hear from you.

An NVQ level 1 in Food Preparation and Cooking or equivalent, previous experience in a catering environment and in a customer service role are all essential.
