My long-standing and profitable client is one of the most technically advanced independent calibration laboratories in the UK and has been around for almost 60 years.
They are seeking a customer-facing and excellent communicator to join their family-feel team as a Calibration Engineer.
The successful candidate will be working on client sites or in their state-of-the-art mobile laboratories performing calibrations and basic repairs.
The Role - Calibration Engineer:
- Performing Calibration tests and certifying equipment in the areas of Electrical,
Dimensional, Temperature and Humidity, Pressure and Torque at customer sites,
mostly Midland-based but also across the country.
- Performing thorough equipment inspections
- Testing repaired equipment for quality standards
- Owning and running the calibration process to ensure all calibrated equipment is
compliant with site calibration requirements
- Scheduling appointments for equipment maintenance, servicing and calibration with
third party vendors where needed
- Addressing and troubleshooting any production queries and equipment failures
- Managing equipment repairs
- Analysing and suggesting equipment upgrades
- Maintaining and updating a record of all daily operations
- Ensuring a complete stock of calibration equipment and supplies
- Maintaining documentation of the calibration process
- Maintain defined KPIs
- Assisting in preparing calibration certificates and data reports
- Provide technical expertise during customer meetings
- On or Offsite customer support as necessary
- Provide excellent customer service in the field
- Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures as required
- Some overnight stays and weekend work may be involved depending on the client
needs
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Calibration Engineer:
- Previous experience in a field base role
- Competent in working within live electrical or isolated process panels
- Able to calibrate process instrumentation (pressure, temperature, humidity, torque)
- A knowledge of oven profiling or calibration in an engineering environment
- Competent in MS Office applications (MS Excel, MS Word etc)
- A full UK driving license is essential
- Apprenticeship, or a related field experience
- Complete understanding of Calibration procedures and testing techniques
- Familiarity with electrical inspection, testing equipment and quality control tools
such as digital multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A team player as well as the ability to work independently
- Having an eye for detail
- Flexibility to deliver excellent customer service
