Job description


The Cancer Co-Ordinator provides valuable support and knowledge to the senior management, consultants and administration staff for our Breast Service .
Knowledge and understanding of both inpatient and outpatient activity is an essential part of this role in order to maintain the high performance targets within Family Services .
• To assist the team to ensure all patient appointments, investigations and procedures are managed and arranged within the specified timescales in order to provide an optimum level of care for each patient.
• Assist the team to ensure waiting time targets are not breached and patients needs are met.
• To work alongside and provide administration support for the Clinical Nurse Specialists.
• A key aspect of the role involves daily and direct (eg. Face to face and telephone) communication with patients, relatives, carers and other health and social care professionals. The information and nature of the communication required is sensitive due to the nature of cancer. Communication in this context requires a high degree of empathy, understanding, diplomacy, honesty and integrity
