Canteen Chef (British and Chinese cuisines)

What you need to know about the role

We are looking for a talented and passionate Canteen Chef to join our team at the British Steel Admin Building. The ideal candidate will have a flair for both Chinese and British cuisines, capable of delivering a diverse and delightful culinary experience to our staff and visitors. Key Responsibilities include: 

• Culinary Excellence: Prepare and serve a variety of dishes, specializing in both Chinese and British cuisines, ensuring high-quality standards and consistency.
• Meal Planning: Develop and execute daily menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, catering to a range of dietary needs and preferences.
• Kitchen Management: Efficiently manage kitchen operations, including ingredient sourcing, inventory management, and maintaining kitchen equipment.
• Food Safety: Uphold the highest standards of hygiene and food safety, complying with all regulatory requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff and management to ensure a seamless dining experience for all guests.
• Customer Satisfaction: Engage with customers to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to menu offerings and service.
• Flexibility: Availability to work on weekends and holidays, adapting to the dynamic needs of the canteen's schedule.

What we need to know about you

• Proven experience as a chef, with expertise in both Chinese and British cuisines.
• Culinary diploma or equivalent professional cooking certification.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
