Are you a process driven individual with a high level of attention to detail who is looking for a varied role on a part time basis? If so then we have a fantastic opportunity for you for a Capital Planning Assistant working within our well established Capital Planning team on a permanent basis. Please note this role is available on a 20 hour per week basis – days worked to be confirmed at interview.


This varied opportunity for a Capital Planning Assistant requires an individual to maintain investment approval control systems in order to monitor expansionary and maintenance capital expenditure budgets. You will also provide a comprehensive data extraction and administrative service in order to assist virtual teams in controlling expansionary and maintenance capital expenditure budgets, alongside providing a comprehensive data extraction service to assist with Capital Planning.


As Capital Planning Assistant, you will report into our Investment Performance Manager in an office flexible role, on a 20 hour per week basis. The Opportunity – Capital Planning Assistant Role;

Your role and responsibilities will be challenging and varied, including the following: -

  • Control MAB capital spends against approval spends:
  • Maintain Portfolio Development Committee (PDC), Capital Approval Meeting and other meeting approval information, ensuring approvals are stored in an organised and accessible manner.
  • Ensure relevant documentation is appropriately signed in line with the approved delegated authority matrix.
  • Ensure timely loading of capital project budgets and approvals on E1, after relevant minutes have been verified.
  • Ensure timely loading of P&L approvals on E1, after relevant minutes have been verified as correct.
  • Regular maintenance of E1 projects for ‘other’ capital
  • Ensure projects are closed down on E1 within the policy guidelines set and highlight any non compliance to these to the Investment Performance Manager.
  • Maintenance of the approved project within the Capital Appraisal Model
  • Assist in the production of the Project Cost Monitors
  • Produce standard data extracts for capital stakeholders to enable control of budgets
  • Progress Reporting
  • Produce new openings report for the Weekly Investment Monitor
  • Assist in the preparation of the Capital Progress Report for PDC.
  • Assist Investment Performance Manager in preparation of the annual Capital Plan.
  • Investment Reporting
  • Assist with standard investment reporting data extracts to monitor the impact of MAB’s expansionary and maintenance capital.
  • Regular housekeeping of project data including various exception reports.
  • To provide holiday cover for team members of Capital Planning section.
  • To provide a financial administrative and data extraction service as required by the Director of Capital Planning
  • Undertake ad-hoc investigations into specific business issues at the request of the Director of Capital Planning or the Investment Performance Manager.
  • To obtain detailed knowledge and understanding of the core information systems to enable efficient and accurate access to the data required by the department.

  • At least 3 years of Financial / Administrative / Data Extraction experience preferably with experience in Construction / Retail environments
  • Strong Attention to detail

  • Clear and professional verbal and non-verbal communication
