- To receive daily instruction from the manager or other person in charge regarding personal care and specific tasks to be carried out during the night
- To carry out regular checks on residents at intervals determined by the manager and with due regard for residents privacy. To notify senior care staff of any problems or concerns, who will then notify the manager
- To answer call bells, assess the situation, deal with the resident seeking help. In the event of an emergency, to summon the senior care staff on duty/call and/or the emergency doctor or ambulance
- To assist residents who need help, reassurance, comfort
- To assist in preparing residents for bed, attending to personal hygiene and oral hygiene
- To assist residents in the morning to wash and dress and proceed to the dining room as directed
- To answer the door and welcome visitors, ensure that senior person is informed of persons entering the premises immediately. Maintain safety and security. Answer the telephone, summon relevant senior person on duty to take the call and pass on messages correctly to relevant persons
- To assist in recording of any relevant information in residents daily reports, hand over book etc as directed. To take instruction from more senior staff as requested
- To undertake other duties as necessary
